Shara Thomas, CEPA
Co-Founder & Wealth Management Advisor
Shara Thomas is a Co-Founder and Wealth Management Advisor at Iron Shore Wealth Strategies, where she partners with executives, individuals, families, and institutions to build thoughtful, long-term financial strategies rooted in clarity and purpose. With over 15 years of experience in wealth management, Shara brings a disciplined yet deeply personalized approach to helping clients create, protect, and transfer wealth across generations.
She forged her career at some of the largest, most reputable names in the financial industry. She began her journey at MassMutual, where she spent six years building a successful practice serving doctors, executives and business owners, growing her client base to nearly 300 individuals and earning the Leaders Conference1 and Advisor of the Year2 honors annually. That foundation of trust and relationship-driven service carried her to Merrill Lynch, and then to Fidelity Investments, where she joined the Private Wealth Management team as one of the leaders working with clients who had a minimum of $10 million in investable assets. As part of an integrated team that included a CPA, estate planning attorney, and tax attorney, she built a book of nearly $2 billion in assets under management and, as a result, earned distinctions and was recognized with firm-wide awards. As a passionate believer in creating pathways for other talented individuals, she became the global co-chair of Fidelity's ASPIRE, the Latina and Black Employee Resource Group, creating mentorship partnerships, leadership programs and opportunities to network and build across various national departments of Fidelity Investments. At Edward Jones, she was tapped to help pilot their flagship Manhattan office, working directly with C-suite executives including the CEO, COO, and the CFO, to educate the advisors and executives about the broader financial market and client needs which would sharpen the firm's competitive positioning in the New York City market, and guidance on the needs of sophisticated clients and the tools that advisors who support those clients need. This again earning recognition for her performance and client impact.
Each of these experiences at some of the industry's largest and most respected institutions, managing billions of dollars, solving thousands of complex client needs and leading successful teams pointed to an inevitable conclusion with a clear vision: to build something better for her clients. Iron Shore Wealth Strategies was founded on that conviction, to create a firm where clients have access to everything they need to create, keep, and transfer their wealth to the next generation, free of the conflicts that arise from working at large institutions. Iron Shore's work is guided by three pillars: Financial Empowerment, Financial Dignity, and Financial Clarity — a framework designed to ensure that every client can move forward with confidence and execute on their goals.
Beyond her client work, Shara has been a committed advocate for diversity and inclusion within financial services. She is fluent in American Sign Language. At Fidelity, she served as Global Co-Chair of ASPIRE, the firm's Black and Latino ERG, earning the ASPIRE Leadership and Management Certificate for her leadership contributions. She currently serves on the Board of the YWCA Yonkers, furthering her commitment to community empowerment and economic equity.
Shara holds a Certificate in Financial Management from Cornell University, a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) designation, and a Bachelor of Science in both Accounting and Finance. She is based in New York City.
